Tigers have been historically found in east, south, west and centeral Asia. Presently, they can be found in south-southeast Asia, China and east Russia. Their preferred habitat is tropical forests, mangrove swamps or grasslands.
Tigers have red/orange coats with black stripes, white stomachs and white spots on their ears. Tigers are powerful hunters with sharp teeth, strong jaws and agile bodies.
Tigers communicate by roars, grunts and chuffing. They also communicate by scent markings and scratches on trees.
Tigers prey on large hooved animals such as deer and wild boar. But they are also known to eat monkeys, buffalo, sloths, leopards and crocodiles. Tigers hunt once a week and eat as much as 75 pounds of food in one night.
